Automated design of superconducting circuits and its application to 4-local couplers

Abstract Superconducting circuits have emerged as a promising platform to build quantum processors. The challenge of designing circuit is compromise between realizing set performance metrics and reducing complexity noise sensitivity. At the same time, one needs explore large design space, computational approaches often yield long simulation times. Here, we automate task using SCILLA. software SCILLA performs parallelized, closed-loop optimization superconducting diagrams that match predefined properties, such spectral features sensitivities. We employ it 4-local couplers for flux qubits identify outperforms an existing proposal with similar structure in terms coupling strength resilience experimentally accessible parameters. This work demonstrates how automated can facilitate development complex architectures information processing.
